Rebecca Burnside

Bio

Rebecca Burnside currently operates It’s Personnel Consulting services, which provides a wide range of workplace investigations and human resources consulting to public and private sector clients.  She has served as the HR Director at Redwood City and Foster City, managing all aspects of the City’s Human Resources functions. She has also worked for the City of San Mateo as the Assistant Director of Human Resources.  Before going into Human Resources, she practiced law, specializing in Labor and Employment Law, at Littler Mendelson, where she predominately did legal work for the Fortune 500.  She received a pro bono award for her volunteer work as a lawyer. She received CALPELRA's Moving forward award in 2011 for outstanding Labor Relations for her work as a labor negotiator. She co-chaired to working committee for the San Mateo County Training Consortium, bringing shared training services to 11 Peninsula municipalities, and winning the National Innovation award from IPMA at the Chicago Conference in 2010. She currently serves on the Association of Workplace Investigator's Marketing and Membership Committee. 

She attended law school at Tulane School of Law, where she was in the top 10% of her graduating class, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif.  She received her undergraduate business degree from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business with an emphasis in Industrial Relations, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She has her SPHR certification and is licensed to practice law in Arizona and California.
